The membrane bioreactor (MBR) is the combination of a membrane process like micro filtration or Ultra Filtration with a suspended growth bioreactor, and is now widely used for municipal and industrial waste water treatment with plants. The derived effluent is of high quality enough to be discharged to coastal, surface or brackish waterways or to be reclaimed for urban irrigation. Other advantages include small footprint, easy retrofit and upgrade of old wastewater treatment plants.

Part of Storm water management requirements in neighboring countries SCE has developed containerized silt sedimentation systems designed to operate automatically and run with little attendance for long periods of time. Operators benefit from a relatively low overhead operation cost with little risk of degradation of water that is discharged to the storm water drainage.

Ultra Filtration (UF) is a pressure driven on tangential membrane flux process and the impetus is pressure difference. This process removes certain soluble organic modules, suspended and colloidal matter from aqueous medium like water. UF membranes typically have pore sizes in the range of 0.01 – 0.10 µm and have a high removal capability for bacteria and most viruses, colloids and silt (SDI). The smaller the nominal pore size, the higher the removal capability. SCE is leading the UF technology in Indonesia have installation in power plant and Palm Oil sectors.
APPLICATION
- Pre-treatment for reverse osmosis and nano filtration
- Wastewater recovery and reuse
- Desalination and depth Sea Water Filtration
- Sugar & Fruit juice concentration
ADVANTAGES
- Low fouling Hydrophilic Polyvinylidenefluoride (H-PVDF) membrane
- Excellent filtration performance with high flux
- Durable and break resistant double- walled fiber structure
- High chemical resistance and temperature tolerance for effective membrane cleaning
- Very fine nominal pore diameter (0.03 µm)
- High removal efficiency of bacteria and viruses
- Dead-end or concentrate bleed flow capabilities
- Outside-In flow configuration that allows for less plugging and higher solids loading, higher flow area and easier cleaning
- Can be periodically back washed and air scoured to improve performance and extend operating life by removing the fouling layer
- Simple, vertical, modular design allows low cost, compact systems
