    Clarifiers

    Clarifiers – (Conventional, Lamella)

    Clarifiers are used to remove suspended solids from raw water. Conventional clarifiers are circular in structure and require higher residence time and lesser velocity. This is an ideal choice for process industries with larger water requirement. Lamella type clarifiers are relatively new generation one which requires much lesser space because they can operate at higher velocity due to increased surface area. Lamella clarifier can be plate type or tube settler type. PT SCE all the above range of clarifiers and are custom designed.

    Filters

    Sand, Sand, Activated Carbon, Multimedia and Greensand Media – choice of a filter depends upon the quality and source of water. Ideally for river water filters are placed after clarifier. For deep well water, as the suspended solids are much lesser compared to river water one can design system with filters as pre – treatment without clarifiers. Sand Filter and multi media filter are used for removing traces of TSS while activated carbon filter is used to remove color and organics. Green sand media filter is chosen when Fe and Mn are higher in the raw water.
    Softeners

    Water softeners are used to remove total hardness from filtered water. Soft water has a tendency to avoid corrosion in boilers, cooling systems and pipes. Softening process is an ionic process which used strong acid resins for removing total hardness partially/completely from clarified water.
    Demineralizers

    Demineralizing is an ionic process used in industry to remove dissolved impurities from filtered water. This process ensures complete removal of ions thus making filtered water suitable as boiler feed water, even for high pressure boilers.

This process removes certain soluble organic modules, suspended and colloidal matter from aqueous medium like water. UF membranes typically have pore sizes in the range of 0.01 - 0.10 µm and have a high removal capability for bacteria and most viruses, colloids and silt (SDI). The smaller the nominal pore size, the higher the removal capability. [/su_spoiler] [su_spoiler title="Reverse Osmosis" open="no" icon="plus"] Reverse osmosis (RO) is the process of forcing a solvent from a region of high solute concentration through a membrane to a region of low solute concentration by applying a pressure in excess of the osmotic pressure This is the reverse of the normal osmosis process, which is the natural movement of solvent from an area of low solute concentration, through a membrane, to an area of high solute concentration when no external pressure is applied. The membrane here is semi permeable, meaning it allows the passage of solvent but not of solute. At Southern Chemicals we have pioneered RO technology in Indonesia having introduced it by early 1980’s. We have developed 3 separate series and today are experimenting with alternative power sources to achieve further efficiency and cost reductions. [/su_spoiler]

    Ultra Filtration (UF) is a pressure driven on tangential membrane flux process and the impetus is pressure difference. This process removes certain soluble organic modules, suspended and colloidal matter from aqueous medium like water. UF membranes typically have pore sizes in the range of 0.01 – 0.10 µm and have a high removal capability for bacteria and most viruses, colloids and silt (SDI). The smaller the nominal pore size, the higher the removal capability. SCE is leading the UF technology in Indonesia have installation in power plant and Palm Oil sectors.
